Dean A. Beers, CLI, CCDI is a recognized expert in the areas of death investigation and personal injury causation. He is the only Board Certified Legal Investigator (CLI) in northern Colorado, and is also a certified Medicolegal Death Investigator specializing consultations and investigations of all civil Personal Injury, Negligence and Death matters, as well as felony Criminal Defense. Mr. Beers is a recognized expert on issues involving private investigation. He continues to speak extensively on investigative techniques and principles and has authored multiple peer-reviewed white papers, and three books – Practical Methods for Legal Investigations: Concepts and Protocols in Civil and Criminal Cases, released by CRC Press in February 2011, previouslyProfessional Investigations: Individual Locates, Backgrounds and Assets & Liabilities and most recently A Survivors’ Guide to Understanding Death Investigations (co-authored with his wife and business partner). He founded his agency in 1987 and operates it with his wife Karen S. Beers, BSW, CCDI, with whom he co-developedDeath Investigation for Private Investigators distance learning and continuing education.
Richard Harris served in the Public Safety field for over 17 years. He worked in several areas of the Police and Fire Service including Chief of Department. He has been in the Private Investigation field both in a part time and full time status for over 16 years and has conducted training for Police and Fire Departments for over 25 years, provided private consulting services to Police and Fire Departments for over 20 years and trained and consulted for Private Detectives and Security Officers for more than 16 years. He has authored “Marketing Checklist for the Private Detective and Security Agency”, “Red Flags of the Fire Fraud” and “Expert Testimony and the changing Case Laws” as well as many other programs related to the Fire, Police, Private Detective and Security areas. He has a Master of Fire Science Certificate, BS in Fire Safety Management as well as thousands of hours of other related training certificates. He has served on many National and State Committees in the areas of Investigation and has taught at Colleges and Universities throughout the United States on topics relating to Fire, Police and Private Investigation and Security.
Rory J. McMahon, FCI, CLI has been a Florida Licensed Private Investigator for the past 23 years. He holds several professional certifications including Certified Legal Investigator, Certified Criminal Defense Investigator, Florida Certified Investigator and mostly recently, Certified Fraud Examiner. He is the President of R.J. McMahon & Associates, Inc., a private investigative firm in Ft. Lauderdale, which was established in 1991. Prior to that time, he worked for twelve years as a U.S. Probation Officer in both the Southern District of New York (1978-1982) and Southern District of Florida (1982-1990). Rory specializes in corporate and criminal fraud investigations, criminal defense investigations and civil litigation support. He has worked over the years on numerous high profile federal and state criminal defense and civil litigation cases.
Tim O’Rourke, CPS has spent three decades as a high-profile protective and investigative specialist. In 1992 he co-founded one of Florida’s largest private agencies and served as the Executive VP for 20 years. During that time the organization grew from a small operation to over 300+ employees. In 1998 O’Rourke saw a need for a primer training facility that could serve the professional training needs of his colleagues. After the attacks on 9-11-2001 the training cadre was expanded and the training was offered to a multi-national audience which it still provides today.
In 2012 Tim sold his interest in the five business units he helped create and continued to volunteer his time to the PI Community. From 2005-13 he was appointed by the Florida Commissioner to serve as an advisor to board for Security and Investigators he helped shape and defend the profession. Currently O’Rourke is the President of FALI, Florida’s largest organization for Investigators. In 2014 he launched GIMG.tv where he plans on assisting others in the investigative community get a start in the profession and keep seasoned PI’s informed about legislative, business development, services and other subjects of interest to his subscribers.
