Interview Techniques with John Hoda

Our guest John A. Hoda’s investigative career spans five decades. After graduating from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Criminology in 1975, John began as a police officer in suburban Philadelphia.

He later flourished in the private sector with positions as a Insurance Fraud investigator, Claims Manager with AIG and SIU Manager with Maryland Casualty before creating his first private investigations firm, Independent Special Investigations.

John’s cases have made headlines with The Philadelphia Inquirer and New Haven Register.

Most recently, he has worked on several cases involving false statements and false confessions that resulted in acquittals and a wrongful conviction exoneration.

He is a CFE and Certified Legal Investigator (CLI). He has served on the board of the National Assoc. of Legal Investigators and the Connecticut Assoc. of Licensed Private Investigators.

John has personally trained investigators in interviewing both in the field and in presentations at International conferences. He created an online video series featuring: The Ultimate Guide to Taking Statements.

He continues to sharpen his interviewing skills and his training skills with webinars and presentations at recent investigator conferences in Florida and Texas. He will be co-presenting in November with Jonathan Davison on PEACE, an investigative interviewing method developed in the mid-1990s in the UK.(follow this link)
